And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us. 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
