When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
