The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play 2 diverted their hearts. The evildoers whisper one to another, 'Is this aught but a mortal like to yourselves? What, will you take to sorcery with your eyes open?' 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
