And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
