And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 and We left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 78 Peace be upon Nooh, among the entire people. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Do you want to worship false idols as your lords besides God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you, that you do not speak' 92 Then he slipped unto them striking them with the right hand. 93 And (his people) came toward him, hastening. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They replied: 'Build for him a building and cast him into the fire' 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! 99 "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 We called out to him "O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 that surely was a manifest trial, 106 So We ransomed him for a great sacrifice, 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 Peace be on Ibrahim. 109 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 110 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. 111 Then We gave him the good tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
