Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
