The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
