And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
