1/2 Hizb 33

۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
