And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 Towards Firaun and his court members – in response they were haughty, and they were in dominance. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 for, indeed, We had vouchsafed revelation unto Moses in order that they might find the right way. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
