The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
