The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven of the constellations! 1 And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 2 by the witness and the witnessed, 3 Accursed be the People of the Ditch! 4 of fire fiercely burning [for all who have attained to faith]! 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 Who, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything. 9 Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women, and thereafter do not repent, hell's suffering awaits them: yea, suffering through fire awaits them! 10 (But) for those who believe and do good works, for them there are Gardens underneath which rivers flow that is the Great Victory! 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious, 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 Has the story of the hordes 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate. 22
