The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
