The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 "When we have become decayed bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
