(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 And be patient upon your Lord’s command, (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), for you are indeed in Our sight; and proclaim the Purity of your Lord while praising Him, whenever you stand. 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
