The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall 1 those who deny the truth. [Know, then, that] nothing can ward it off, 2 No one can defend him against God, the Lord of the exalted positions. 3 The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years: 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead, etc.). 8 And the hills will be light as wool. 9 and no friend will ask about his friend, 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, 13 and whosoever is in the earth, altogether, so that it might save him. 14 By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!- 15 stripping away his skin, 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ Indeed, man is born impatient: 19 when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting, 20 but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly 21 except those that pray 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 and in whose possessions there is a due share, acknowledged [by them,] 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 and fear the chastisement of their Lord – 27 Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe - 28 and guard their private parts 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies. 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 It is these who will be honoured in Gardens. 35
