NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
