The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
