Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 place on it high mountains and provide you with fresh water? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 Verily it shall cast forth sparks like unto a castle. 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
