Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 We destroyed the others 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
