Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a high Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
