Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
