The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
