The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ [The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
