Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
