The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
