Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 And when we heard the Message of guidance, we believed therein; and whosoever believeth in his Lord, he shall fear neither diminution nor wrong. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And [know] that all worship is due to God [alone]: hence, do not invoke anyone side by side with God! 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
