The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
