Hizb 46
< random >
AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 They used to say before: 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
God the Almighty always says the truth.
