The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
