The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
