The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Almighty God's Truth.
