The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
