The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
