The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 then he mustered 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
