The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
