The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
