He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
