The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 weigh with an even balance 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
