Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
