Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
