He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
