۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
