And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "Oh, I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west - how wretched a companion." 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
