Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
