Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 until an appointed time? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
