Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the daybreak, 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?- 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Who committed inordinacy in the cities, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me"; 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 No! But when the earth quakes and is pounded, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 Serene soul, 27 Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: 28 Join My worshipers and 29 yea, enter thou My paradise!" 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
