The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy; and let their hopes deceive them, soon they shall know. 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 We do not send down angels without reason, and if the angels descend they would not get any respite! 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 And indeed We sent Noble Messengers before you, to the former nations. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 We place in the hearts of sinners (disbelief). 12 They do not believe in it even though the practice of the ancients has already gone. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
