And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book and We placed with him his brother Harun as a minister. 35 and We said, 'Go to the people who have cried lies to Our signs'; then We destroyed them utterly. 36 And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- 37 And (also) 'Ad and Thamud, and the dwellers of Ar-Rass, and many generations in between. 38 We administered warnings to each of them, and then destroyed them completely. 39 Our Messengers came into the town which was struck by a fatal rain. Did they (unbelievers), not see what had happened to this town? In fact, they had no faith in the Resurrection. 40 When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger? 41 “Possibly he would have misled us away from our Gods had we not been firm upon them”; soon they will know, when they see the punishment, who was astray from the path. 42 How can you be the guardian of those who have chosen their own desires as their Lord? 43 Or do you think that most of them do hear or understand? They are nothing but as cattle; nay, they are straying farther off from the path. 44
