He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
